Children and youth at the core of our operations
At the core of Piispala’s operations, there are children and young people. Our expertise in working with children and young people is based on the implementation of common pedagogical approaches and values of Finnish Youth Centres. Our operation objective is to support the growth of children and young people by strengthening their participation and community spirits. Our operation also sees the importance of promoting the internationalization of children and young people as well as delivering the values of sustainable development. Activities with children and young people are conducted on the basis of experiential learning method and youth-centred instruction model. During instructed activities, we emphasize interaction skills and reflection on activities which allow for deeper learning. Our safe, competent and versatile operating environment is designed for children and young people in particular.
In Piispala, we offer a wide range of activities for different kinds of groups, for example, one-day trip for kindergarten children, school camps, confirmation camps, Nuotta social inclusion trainings, sports camps and associations’ summer camps. All our activities and services happen in the same area with safe and natural surroundings.
In our wellbeing-promoting environment, children and young people are possible to have activities which encourage their participation. We also enable internationalization at home in the region and promote the internationalization of children and young people through exchange programmes. We cultivate the team spirit of groups and school classes, offer opportunities to experience success, support the growth through adventure and experiences, lead the way for humanity, tolerance and sustainable development, and help individuals find their own places in the group. We improve individuals’ abilities to identify their strengths and give our full supports to them towards a good life.
